NO OPTION TAILGATE MOVED FOR SATURDAYS GAME

There is a good chance that this weeks tailgate will be under the big tent (back of lot). So, if our cars are not in the usual place, we're in the tent.

Huskers win!

Score Predictions?

How will the Huskers react to last weeks embrassing loss??

Huskers 35 Tigers 10

Coaching Changes Next Year?

On 1620 tonight, Damon Benning says he has no inside information, but is predicting two coaching changes next year. I think the first one, no one will be surprised, Cosgrove. But the other one you might not have guessed, Dennis Wagner!

Nebraska will be crushed

I found this on a Texas forum.

I dont even think this game will be close, even though its in Lincoln. Now before everyone jumps on me and says "Woah, we need to watch out. Nebraska has quite an offense. They put points on the board. Its in their house" ect, let me say that, after watching Nebraska play a few times this year, most notably against SC, they have a glaring weakness that will be exploited to the tune of 35-40 points by the Longhorns, namely their secondary.

I dont expect either Selvin Young or Jamaal Charles to have big games, but I do expect Quan Cosby, Limas Sweed and Billy Pitman to be all over the Huskers undersized secondary. Nebraska has already seen a tandem of talented receivers this year, in Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith. Regardless of what the final score might say, the Trojans didnt have much trouble passing on the Huskers.

I also dont think Nebraska can get enough of a running game going to take the focus off of defending their passing plays, so that Texas will start dropping multiple guys into coverage and shut down their receivers.

Prediction: Texas-35Nebraska-14

Can we win?

Do we have a real chance of winning Saturday?

To win on Saturday, we would have to play an error free game and force at least two turnovers. We will have problems establishing a running game against their huge defensive line. Look for Taylor to have a record day. Huskers win 27-24!

SAD NEWS

October 10, 2006

Former Texas mascot Bevo XIII dead today
The longest serving Longhorn mascot, Bevo XIII, died today at a Texas ranch. The steer was 22 years old, serving 16 season on the Texas sidelines.

The really sad part to this story is several players from Bevo's first season are still enrolled at UT.

TIME TO GET ONBOARD

I saw this post on Huskerpedia, thought it was on point.

I'm really getting sick of people criticizing Bill Callahan's ball-control, run-oriented offense as "conservative".

There was such a hue and cry when this strange new fancy passing offense was coming to town and how it was going to destroy the tradition of "Nebraska" Football. Now, when we are finally RUNNING THE BALL effectively, people are complaining because we aren't throwing the ball downfield 80 times a game.

Is this a lack of understanding of what a "West Coast Offense" is by the majority of the fanbase, or a misunderstanding of what "Nebraska" football is all about?I'm seeing our coaching staff attacking teams with a potent running game, a balanced controlled, efficient passing game, emphasizing ball control, field position, and time of possession. This is EXACTLY what we did under Tom Osborne for 2 decades, except we now have a QB throwing the ball rather than running it.

I just don't understand why there is so much arguing going on AGAINST the re-establishment of our very history and tradition of pounding the ball right at teams until they submit to our will.Either we have a "new" type of fan in the fanbase that doesn't GET IT, or we have a segment of the fanbase that refuses to understand what the WCO is and how it is used to win football games. It's clear to me that Callahan understands what "NEBRASKA" football means. He's showing us this year. His offense this year reminds me more of what we "used to do" than we have seen for some time now.

If you want a "sexy" 60 pass a game offense, go watch somebody else like Texas Tech. I wanted to see NEBRASKA football under this staff. I saw "Nebraska" football for the last time on the field against Michigan State in the Alamo Bowl at the end of the 2003 season. I saw it re-emerge again against Michigan in the Alamo Bowl at the end of last season and take off this year. We have had two games with 2 100 yard rushers. We've had four I-backs have 100 yard games so far this year. We've risen to the top ten in both rushing AND passing and to the top of our conference in both.We are seeing "Nebraska" foootball as we've always seen it in the past.

Why are some of you so upset that we are running the ball to win football games? Why is that such a foreign concept to you?
